Mobile Barcode Link Generator

Sorry if this has been discussed already. I would like visitors reach my site using their mobile phone. Doing this by scanning a mobile barcode link generator is one way to do this. But, to be able to activate the barcode link I will need to paste HTLM code into my Zen site.

Can this be done? How? Is anyone here doing it?

Google+ Authorship question

Hi. I'm trying to find out how to associate my Google+ profile with my Zenfolio site in terms of Authorship. I don't have an email address with the same domain as my Zenfolio site, so email verification seems to not be an option. How can I go about doing this please?

(Also is this any different than registering ownership of the site via Google Webmaster Tools in the Zenfolio SEO section?)

Anyone else experiencing IE10 crashes. Go to one of your galleries, and then use your arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate through your galleries. On or about the 32-33 image viewed, IE10 crashes on my machines (all 5 of them).

If IE10 doesn't crash, what add-ons do you have enabled?

Backing up Zenfolio metadata?

I spent a fair amount of time adding metadata via the Toolbox, in the Photo tab, under the Description field; specifically Title, Caption and Keywords. I would like to be able to extract/back this up in case something happens to my site or to ZF itself (I have the actual pictures backed up both locally and offsite).

I have already posed this question to ZF support and they have replied that ZF does not have anything that can do what I am asking. I am curious if anybody has found a way to do it, or alternatively, what steps they have taken to protect themselves from this deficiency.

Photo captions on custom pages?

Is there a way to create visible photo captions on custom pages and blogs? I want to use them for SEO purpose, but more importantly to help explain camera settings/setups I've used to capture specific images. But I can't for the life of me figure it out.

Changing layout on "About" Page?

Is it possible to change the layout of the About page? Specifically, the photo is about 5x5 inches and the text is underneath. The picture takes up almost the full visible height when browsing-you'd have no idea there was text below.

Is it possible to get the picture on one side (L/R) and text next to it, so that the customer doesn't have to realize he/she needs to scroll down below the photo to find my bio?

iPhone iOS app not updated in over a year

I recently got an iPhone 5 and noticed when loading the Zenfolio app that it doesn't support the larger screen, so I looked on the App store and saw the iOS app hasn't been updated since Dec 2011. That's nearly 18 months ago.

The Android app seems to have taken priority at the moment and is now getting new features that the iOS app isn't, such as video and drag and drop reordering of photos.

Any news on a possible update to the iOS app?

I've spent a little(!) while over the last couple days tinkering with my website and changing up a few things. I really love the new homepage.. so much cleaner and more professional! I haven't added a theme as I'm more or less happy with the fine art theme but have reorganized things. Anyway, I'd love some feedback on the appearance/organization/usability, as would many of you I'm sure so post your link!

Poor Features for Self-Fulfilled Products

I'm just wondering who else out there is fed up with Zenfolio's attitude towards self-fulfilled products.

Zenfolio doesn't allow any custom options for self-fulfilled products. So, if I want the customer to have the option between a black frame or a wood-finish frame, I need to create two separate products. Then, if I offer 5 different size prints, I need to create 10 custom products (5 sizes * 2 frame colors). If I want to offer two mat colors, I'm now up to 20 different self-fulfilled products (5 sizes * 2 mat colors * 2 frame colors). But, what if I want to offer the ability to buy prints that are matted but not framed? Now I'm up to 30 different self-fulfilled products just to offer 5 different size prints with options for matting and framing. You've got to be kidding me... talk about a confusing experience for customers!

Even worse is that Zenfolio refuses to collect payments for me. At that point, why would I even use Zenfolio's service? I mean, seriously. I can buy a dedicated IP and an SSL certificate and build my own website on my domain where I can accept payments on my own website... no getting tossed over to PayPal.

Zenfolio is useful in that it provides a nice way to manage my photos online and provides decent options for creating a customized interface. But, let's face it, if you sell self-fulfilled products on your website, then you're practically a second-class customer to Zenfolio. They have no interest in helping you accept payments, no interest in helping you keep a practical and uniform buying experience on your website and they have no interest in helping you with custom options.

When I originally signed up with Zenfolio, I used MPix as a partnered vendor and things were great. Once my needs changed and I started implementing self-fulfilled products, I was astonished at the degree to which Zenfolio basically tells you to go scratch. "You don't wanna use our partnered vendors? Fine... figure it out yourself, then!" I mean, seriously, that's pretty much their attitude towards Zenfolio clients that want to sell self-fulfilled products.

I truly don't see this changing anytime soon, because Zenfolio seems very comfortable basically forcing people to use their partnered vendors or else subjecting them to half-baked selling capabilities that are terribly unprofessional.

You can bet that once this years time is up for my Zen subscription, I will be cancelling and setting off my own to build a worthwhile website on my domain where I'm not penalized for wanting to sell self-fulfilled products. For a mere $75 more, I can buy a dedicated IP address and SSL certificate on my domain and integrate my own merchant account. Hell... I'll be SAVING money. Zenfolio just isn't worth the money if they can't offer the same powerful selling functionality for self-fulfilled products that they offer for partnered-vendor products.

Gallery Slideshow as primary view

Hi, I'm new to the site and have done a lot of research on this, but have yet to find an exact answer to this specific problem.

I was looking at the website of a photographer in my city and I noticed that when you click on his drop down menus they lead to a full screen slideshow and I have not been able to figure out how he accomplished it. I found one question with an answer that said it was a custom page and it wasn't a zenfolio slideshow, but this guys website seems to be fully a zenfolio site. Then again it may just be me and it might actually be a fully custom page.

If anybody with more experience on this site could check out his portfolio slideshows under his drop down menu and explain how he did it, that would be awesome! Thanks :)

Hello. Is it right that I get an error message when attempting to save a custom page saying that there is a 100Kb limit? It seems like a very small limit which would get swallowed up with any sort of flowery content. As it is, all I'm trying to do is put on a list of race meetings I have attended in a simple frame. Not a huge file size, but still yes over 100Kb.??

For everyone that says the SEO for zen does not work well....

Wedding category and subcategories

Here's a question for wedding photographers.

Do any other wedding photographers feel there should be more wedding subcategories for their galleries of wedding photos?

I'm referring to the Description section (Title, Caption, Keywords, Category).

I'm surprised that Weddings isn't a parent category and is instead filed under 'Lifestyle and Recreation', and I feel is missing the subcategories 'Bridal Preparations', 'Formal Groups' and 'Evening Party'. I'm thinking of creating a New Feature Request if I'm not alone on this one.

Are there any more subcategories I may have missed?

Self-Fulfilled products vs vendor products

So my goal is to fulfill all print orders myself to save the fee. I know we can set it up to approve all orders before the vendors automatically fulfill them if we want. My question is, is it better to set up everything as a self fulfilled product, or set it up as a vendor product? I haven't had any orders yet (still setting it up) so I dont know if there is a way for me to approve the order without sending for fulfillment.

Does that make sense??

Landscape Digital Download for cells and computer Price and Size

I am using approx 700 x 500 and charging $35. is that too high . . and how safe is that size image?

Image resizing for download sales

Hello all,

I'm writing to ask about how Zenfolio resizes your files in order to fulfil digital product orders.

I have set up a product list to include a download of any file the customers wishes to buy and in the 'Edit Digital Product' settings, under Image Dimensions, I have selected Largest Dimension and set it to 750 pixels on the longest side.

My question is this, what ppi will the file the customer orders be?

The files I upload are 300ppi so will the 'product' be 750x500px at 300ppi?

And if I wanted it to be at 72ppi should I be uploading my originals at 72ppi?

And just to check, will the product's file type be .jpg if my originals are .jpg and .tif if my originals are .tif?

Gallery dropdowns not working

I have a Galleries tab on my home page that will show drop-downs to select each category. When I visit the site on a Kindle HD the drop-downs don't show. If I use a Nexus (Also an android device) the drop-downs work just fine. I'm suspecting it's a browser issue but thought I would ask those who know much more than I do :-)
