    Zenfolio update: changes to product and partner offerings

    Over the past year, Zenfolio fulfilled tens of thousands of print orders with great success. We have gained a lot of experience working with our partner labs, and learned a lot along the way. We are very excited to share with you the news about upcoming changes and additions to the products we offer.

    We are expanding our relationship with the Mpix Lab by adding more products and services, and we are discontinuing products from the EZ Prints Lab.

    Partnering with Mpix, a division of Miller's Professional Imaging, has been a real win for our users as it is one of the best labs in the country. And it is about to get even better as we are working on adding a full range of their products including canvas gallery wraps, greeting cards, standouts, memory mates, puzzles, statuettes, and other products from their extensive and growing list.

    In addition, Zenfolio Premium users will soon be able to customize Mpix prints with text printed on the reverse side, also known as backprinting.

    Even more exciting is that Premium users will be able to remove the Mpix brand name from the Cart, and have non-branded packaging ready for delivery to their clients. This will surely make for an even more professional presentation upon delivery.

    We are very proud of the relationship we were able to forge with Mpix, and we continue to be impressed with the quality of products, services, and precision of operations the Mpix lab delivers. Extending the integration between Zenfolio and Mpix will give you, our user, access to more products, services, and expertise gained from over 70 years in the photofinishing business.

    On the other hand, after the recent EZ Prints' switch from Fuji to Kodak paper, it has become redundant to offer products from the two labs given their broad overlap in products and competing pricing. With that in mind, we have decided to send all Zenfolio print fulfillment to Mpix and discontinue the EZ Prints products.

    Effective May 16th, 2008, we will no longer be offering EZ Prints products. Orders placed through EZ Prints prior to and on May 16th will not be affected.

    The EZ Prints products will be removed from the site after May 16th.

    Questions & Answers

    What does this mean for me?

    • If you allow visitors to order your photos - make sure the Mpix Lab is enabled in the Print Ordering section of the Toolbox.
    • If your Price Lists include products from EZ Prints - you can remove them and add corresponding products from Mpix instead. Make sure to do this before May 16th.

    What happens if I do nothing?

    The EZ Prints products will be removed automatically after May 16th.

    What happens to the EZ Prints products that Mpix does not offer?

    With the latest addition of 19-cent value prints from Mpix, and the new specialty products from IYP Photo Products, there is a corresponding item available for almost every product we offered from the EZ Prints Lab.

    Mpix does not ship internationally, what if I am outside of North America?

    We are committed to finding a good fulfillment partner located in Europe to provide a cost effective solution for our growing base of European users. We are actively searching for the right partner, and we will be working on integrating with such a lab to provide better pricing and delivery times.

    This change has just wasted about 20 hours worth of work for me.  All of the my files uploaded are profiled with EZPrints's ICC.  Now I will have to spend another 20 hours remake files, re-upload, re-do the details for each file (unless your "replace" function is working, then I don't have to re-do the details).

    I think that you guys should have the "replace" function working before the deadline.  It will ease the pain a little.

     Question on premium use: Where is (or will be) the command/trigger to remove the MPIX logo from the ordering page?

    Here's another suggestion -- could you delay giving EZ Prints the boot until *AFTER* you have a replacement fulfillment arrangement for non-North-American customers lined up?

     I just upgraded to a "Premium" account a week ago, and now its value is pretty much shot for me.  If I can't sell overseas, I want my money back.

    I would agree with Argos. It's pretty bad business to leave all your non-US customers without any service whatsoever for an indefinite amount of time.

    I'm only an a hobbyist photographer and I'm very unhappy about this, I can only imagine how angry the professional photographers feel about this decision.

    alex, this change seems like a great idea but the problem right now is that to create our new price lists, new products must be available.  The 19cent uncorrect proof option and the iyp products are nowhere to be found when trying to add products to my new lists.  when will this problem be solved?  It is now may 12 and my ez prints products will be gone on the 16th with no replacement as yet available!

    I've been looking all morning.  I'm a beginner so I thought I was being dense.  Where do I go for the change to Mpix?  I've been all over my edit-able views and haven't found anything which allows me to change from EZ to Mpix. Is it at the Group Level or the Gallery Level or where?   Help.

    This change is under the Print Ordering section in the Toolbox. Select a gallery in the Organizer on the left and click Edit in the Print Ordering section of the Toolbox on the right side.

    One suggestion for MPIX would be: 

    It would sure be nice if you could order different paper stocks (luster, Gloss etc)

    on the same order without incurring a seperate shipping charge. 

    This was the main reason I chose EZ prints as my supplier.

    After sending test shots to both suppliers I also felt their quality (on the color corrected tests on Kodak Endura at least)

    was slightly better. I am sure they are both good though and hopefully this will be a non-issue.

    Since I only upgraded to the premium account last week and just got this set up after a couple hours of setting it up, it's a little disapointing...

    but that's life. Any chance you will add another provider?  Freedom of choice is more often than not a good thing! I guess I'd have to say, thanks for letting me waste 7$ researching a lame duck provider...

    You spent $7 researching a EZ?  I spent over $150 so far just doing test prints from EZ, and then they switched on me.

    I really need the "replace file" function working.  PLEASE!
